Hello my friends!
Today I decided to get out of my comfort zone….like…really out..(hahaha)! Those of you who have been around for a while you may know that I don’t often create pages with photos/pictures… but I think it can be really motivational to combine quotes or inspirational words with nice pictures in interesting layouts 🙂 So…here is me trying to learn something new! 🙂
I admit that it was a real challenge and the blank page of the journal was quite intimidating after all this time that I haven’t created any art journal pages! But after completing it I felt really inspired! Hope you feel the same! 🙂
Creative process:
To begin with, I decided to adopt the “Dream + black &white plus one” theme of the More than Words Challenge. Dream in my mind is linked to hope. And since green is a color that is known to put heart and mind in balance, I decided to go for Black,White and Green!
I started by preparing my page with white gesso. Then I used modeling paste through the stencils to create the leaves and the clock. Once they were completely dry I used Lindy’s Magical Bells of Ireland Green to accent the raised areas. Then I used Dylusions Black Marble spray along the edges and sprayed it with water to help it run around creating depth and a shadowy look. I sprayed Dylusions White Linen in the center of the page to brighten up the middle area. Once I was satisfied with the colors I used my heat tool to dry the page. I searched the Internet for a picture and a sentiment, printed them out and cut them to the right size. I distressed the their edges by inking them. I stuck them nicely on a dark patterned paper and I stamped and heat embossed in white my “Dare to dream” sentiment. To help my focal point pop abit more I created a stripy black and white pattern with a Black Sharpie and fussy cut the word Dream which I outlined with white and green to help it relate to my project. I adhered everything down and I decided to doodle abit around my images with white and black gel pens to make my focal point stand out. At that point I realised that I wanted to add more light to my project. So I used my white Gelatos to highlight the whole area around my focal point and my black Gelatos all around the page to darken the edges and enhance the contrast. And that completed my art journal page!
