You are not getting older, you are getting wiser!

Hello all!

Hope your week has started well! Today I would like to share with you a fun masculine card! As I am on a personal challenge to make good use of all my old supplies…I decided that it would be a good idea to use this adorable stamp set from Paper Smooches which I think is hilarious and suitable for many occasions! So with no further ado…here is the little card I came up with!

Quick Instructions:

To match the design of YNS Challenge #66 I cut my panel diagonally and I die cut a circle out of my biggest part, big enough to fit my owl. Then I used a wood pattern embossing folder and I embossed this part to create the look of a tree log or something. I colored it with Distress inks and watercolors and let it aside to dry. Next I used my Walnut stain Oxide to color a long stripe of white cardstock to match the brown of my tree panel. I cut the stripe down to fit my card on an angle and also cut another piece to fit my sentiment. I gold heat embossed the sentiment and adhered everything on a black cardstock for contrast. To finish off my card I stamped the owl on white cardstock, colored it with Inktense pencils, fussy cut it and adhered it on my card with double sided foam tape to help it pop abit. And my card was complete!

Supplies used:

  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • The Works -Black craft card 200gsm
  • Archival Ink Jet Black
  • Tim Holtz -Distress Oxides:  walnut stain
  • Tim Holtz – Distress Inks:  gathered twigs, walnut stain, brushed corduroy
  • Derwent – Inktense color pencils: 1740 saddle brown, 1900 willow, 2100 charcoal grey, 0250 cadmium orange
  • Prima Confections Watercolors:Decadent pies/ Tropicals/The classics (mix of yellows and browns)
  • Paper Smooches:Chubby chums stamp set
  • MFT: Up in the air stamp set
  • Unbranded – wood pattern embossing folder
  • Versamark Ink
  • Wow! Metallic Gold Rich Regular embossing powder
  • Heat tool
  • Sizzix Big Shot Machine
  • Unbranded – Circles nested dies
  • Paper trimmer

Masculine: Birthday!

Hello again!

I’m back with another card today… I just couldn’t resist sharing this one! You know when you create something and you think “oh!I like that!”… well this is what happened with this one! Hope you enjoy it as well! 🙂

Quick Instructions:

Well to be honest, this card is kind of them that you can never make exactly the same due to the randomness of the colors and some techniques but I can give you an idea of how I made it. I started by smooshing Distress inks on a non-porous crafting surface, sprayed them with a bit of water and dragging and dabbing my cardstock over them a few times, drying the layers in between each try. Once happy, I used the similar color Oxides with a blending tool over the stencils listed below. I then made some water splatters to create a watercolor effect. (Love doing that!). I inked the edges with Walnut stain and then I used black Archival ink to stamp all my images on my panel. I watercolored everything with Prima Confections Watercolors (mixing colors from 3 different sets to match the colors of my background). Next I stamped the human figure on white cardstock and colored him using the same watercolors. I let him dry and then I fussy cut him leaving a little bit of a white border. I gold heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock and adhered everything down to complete my card. I used double sided foam tape for the figure to make him pop a bit more. And the card was done!

Supplies used:

  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • The Works -Black craft card 200gsm
  • Archival Ink Jet Black
  • Tim Holtz -Distress Oxides: Broken china, vintage photo, walnut stain
  • Tim Holtz – Distress Inks: Hickory smoke, faded jeans, rusty hinge, tea dye, gathered twigs
  • Prima Confections Watercolors:Decadent pies/ Tropicals/The classics
  • DooLally Pip: Time Travel stamp set
  • Stampers Anonymous – Tim Holtz- Blueprints 1 stamp set

  • Versamark Ink

You are my sunshine!

Hello my friends!

Today the weather is rainy and miserable here…so I decided to create a bright and happy card to cheer me up! I had this little puppy face stamp lying on my desk looking so cute that I couldn’t resist showing him some love! Here is the card I made…enjoy! 🙂

Quick Instructions:

To begin with I applied Fossilized Amber Oxide all over my background and then I used Spiced Marmalade over a stencil to create the sunshine effect. Next I die cut a heart out of white cardstock and blended Oxides and Distress inks to match the colors of the challenges I wanted to take part in. I splattered some water to create the watercolored effect. Since I had the sunshine I decided that it would be fun to make my puppy float on a cloud…but I didn’t have a stamp like that so I used the puppy face from MFT lucky dog stamp set and draw a cloud around him and added a body and a tail to make him look like he is posing. I colored the image using watercolors. While this was drying I white heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock. And then I adhered everything down to complete my card! Fun!

Supplies used:

  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • The Works -Black craft card 200gsm
  • Archival Ink Jet Black
  • Tim Holtz -Distress Oxides: Broken China, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber
  • Tim Holtz – Distress Inks: Seedless Preserves
  • ZIG clean color real brush: Cobalt blue, light blue, beige, oatmeal

Christmas in June!

Hello everyone!

After all the masculine cards, I thought it was about time for something cute! And since my goal is to have loads and loads of Christmas cards ready before December, I decided to share with you a “Season to be Happy” card! Hope you enjoy it!

Quick Instructions:

I started by heat embossing the sentiment in the bottom right corner of my panel. This way I didn’t have to worry in case I didn’t have enough white space later. Then I applied Oxide inks over my Create a Smile stencil. I splashed a bit of water and dabbed it off to create the watercolored effect. Next I die cut a star shape out of my panel and I also die cut the same star out of white cardstock. I stamped the little reindeer and the stars on the white die cut and colored them using watercolors. To finish off my card I added a bit of Wink of Stella on the little yellow stars and parts of my reindeer and adhered everything down on a white cardbase (I adhered the diecut with double sided foam tape to make it pop a bit!). Job done!

Supplies used:

  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • Archival Ink Jet Black
  • Tim Holtz -Distress Oxides: Faded jeans, Peeled paint, Spiced marmalade
  • Prima Confections Watercolors: the Classics
  • Prima Confections Watercolors: Decadent pies
  • Mama Elephant – Reindeer games stamp set
  • MFT – Joyous Christmas Sentiments stamp set
  • Create a smile – Lots of stars stencil
  • Sizzix Big Shot Machine
  • Star nested dies (unknown maker)
  • Versamark Ink
  • Wow! Primary Ebony Regular embossing powder
  • Heat tool
  • Paper trimmer
  • Watercolor brush
  • ZIG- Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen
  • Post it notes (for masking under the stencil)
  • Double sided foam tape

Masculine card: Celebrate!

Hello everyone!

Hope you are having a nice day! Today I would like to share with you another masculine card (well…personally I find masculine cards very stylish and suitable for many occasions, unless they actually have specific words on like dad, brother etc…but anyway…let’s suppose that masculine cards are for men!). Given that father’s day is getting close and many blogs have men-related challenges I decided to go with “Celebrate”.

If you have been here before you might have noticed that lately I’ve been all excited about using embossing folders. Although they don’t seem to be that trendy these days, I think they are super fun and they can help you create very interesting designs. Without further ado, here is my latest card. Hope you enjoy it and get inspired!

Quick Instructions:

This card was fairly simple to make and good fun!I started by embossing a white cardstock using TH-Retro circles embossing folder. Then I used distress ink pads to color the raised areas and watercolors to color the valleys. I colored a stripe of white cardstock with Walnut Stain Distress ink to match the color of my sentiment banner to my circles and I gold heat embossed the sentiment. I adhered everything on a white card base and called my card done! 🙂

Supplies used:

  • A6 Card base
  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • Tim Holtz – Distress mini ink pads: Walnet stain, Vintage photo,Brushed corduroy, Rusty hinge, Faded jeans, Broken china, Hickory smoke
  • Prima Confections Watercolors: the Classics, Decadent pies, Tropicals
  • Sizzix – Tim Holtz – Retro circles embossing folder
  • Avery Elle –Sentimental stamp set
  • Wow! -Metallic Gold Rich Regular embossing powder
  • Heat tool
  • Paper trimmer

Masculine – Happy birthday!

Hello crafty friends!

Lately I love playing with embossing folders and dies. And I’m really having loads of fun. So today I decided to share with you a masculine card I made using Tim Holtz’s dies and embossing folder. Hope you like it!

Quick Instructions:

I created the background using Distress inks and I stamped the pattern using my embossing folder. Then I used the same inks – dragging and dabbing my white cardstock in the wet inks- to create a background which I used to die cut the sentiment and some of the gears.I die cut some gears out of black cardstock and I also die cut 2 wavy panels for the top and bottom of my card out of the same paper. Then I used the bottom part to die cut the sentiment once more. I inlaid the bright sentiment into the bottom panel and adhered everything onto my initial background. And that completed my card.

Supplies used:

  • A6 Card base
  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • The Works -Black craft card 200gsm
  • Tim Holtz – Distress mini ink pads: Walnet stain, Vintage photo,  Rusty hinge, Candied apple, Carved pumpkin, Scattered straw
  • Sizzix – Tim Holtz – Retro circles embossing folder
  • Avery Elle – A Tag for All die set
  • Sizzix – Tim Holtz- Gearhead dies set
  • Unbranded wavy dies set
  • Sizzix Big Shot Machine
  • Paper trimmer
  • Ranger – Glossy Accents
  • Double sided tape

Masculine card: Congratulations

Hello my friends!

Today I would like to share with you a masculine card that I really like the look of. I think this is going to be the first of many because I really enjoyed playing with this Tim Holtz’s die, Distress inks and my embossing folders. Here is what I created…hope you like it and get inspired!

Quick Instructions:

I started by applying Distress inks inside my embossing folder and stamping on white cardstock to create the background. Then I smooshed some brown Distress inks on my working area and sprayed them with water. I smooshed and dabbed another piece of white cardstock through the inks to create another background out of which I die cut some cogs. Next I die cut some cogs out of black cardstock. And I die cut the sentiment out of golden thick paper which I got from a chocolate box packaging! Then I cut a wide piece of black cardstock to serve as a background for my sentiment – so that the golden letters pop. I cut everything to size and adhered them down using double sided tape and glossy accents. And my card was done!

Supplies used:

  • A6 Card base
  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • The Works -Black craft card 200gsm
  • Tim Holtz – Distress mini ink pads: Hickory smoke, Black soot, Walnet stain, Vintage photo, Chipped sapphire, Tea dye, Gathered twigs, Rusty hinge
  • Unbranded Stone wall embossing folder
  • Unbranded – Congratulations die
  • Sizzix – Tim Holtz- Gearhead die set
  • Sizzix Big Shot Machine
  • Paper trimmer
  • Ranger – Glossy Accents
  • Double sided tape

Birthday wishes to you!

Hello again!

Today I have been in a totally crafting mood, hence I thought to post another card I created, this time using my new MFT Snow Drifts Cover-up die. This is the first time I use this die and I have to admit… I love it! The image I used is part of Newton’s Nook Designs – Newton’s Christmas Cuddles stamp set which you have seen me using again and again. (Don’t you feel happy when you buy something that you want to use all the time?!). Here is my second card for today…hope you like it as much as I do!

Quick Instructions:

I created the background swiping my white cardstock panel over Distress inks that I sprayed with water. Then I heat set it and dabbed it over the inks again a few times ,drying the panel after each dabbing. After that I die cut the wavy panel 3 times. Once out of white card stock, then out of black cardstock and the last time I die cut the background I created before. I white heat embossed the sentiment on the right black cut out piece. Next I stamped the image on white cardstock and colored it using watercolors. Once the image dried I added the stripes with a gray fineliner and fussy cut it. I stuck everything on my cardbase and I added two fine stipes of white cardstock above and below it to reduce the gap on the top and bottom edge of my card. And my card was ready!

Supplies used:

  • A6 Card base
  • Kraft Cardstock paper – white
  • The Works -Black craft card 200gsm
  • Archival Ink Jet Black
  • Prima Confections Watercolors: the Classics
  • Tim Holtz – Distress mini ink pads: Festive berries, candied apple, spiced marmalade
  • MFT- Snow Drifts Cover-up die
  • Newton’s Nook Designs – Newton’s Christmas Cuddles
